ALL THING'S GOOD AND MARNI

I wanted to capture MARNI's brand essence keeping the upbeat, joyful, and artsy character the line offers.
The line is known for quirky, feminine combinations of bright colours, bold graphic patterns, elaborate fantasy prints, and natural textures, including many furs.

BARE BEAUTY

MARNI LOOKBOOK

Collective items from Marni's new season section, I wanted to create the mood of the brands identity: an artsy eclectic vision of bohemian chic. A look that helps us surface into the colder months of winter. Keeping the look uniform and using contrasting prints and textures.

" A woman looks to the label for loose tunics rendered in fifties and sixties prints, quirky summer dresses, or caplets in dyed fur. It's all very charming, very just-pulled-from-Grandmother's closet. Funky but sweet, never too sexy, Marni is consistently popular. "

BLACK BOHEMIA

One of the iconic looks that was supported from the start by the two IT girls:  Mary Kate & Ashley.

Relaxed silhouettes, simple accessories, big sunglasses finished with tousled  matte bed hair. A look I will be fully supporting this winter.

MAISON MARTIN MARGIELA

FM: Why is the Margiela team and boutique staff dressed in white?
MMM: Original idea: Unity. An expression of team. A reference to the working ‘Atelier’/Studio’s of the past and present, those ‘blouse d’essayage’ that models wear between fittings at couture Ateliers. Accidental plus point: A way of quickly recognising each other amid the fray of a fashion show. We approach white as an expression of our union as a team and also as an evidence of option, an option of expression, be that ours or that of those who choose to wear the clothes we propose.

FM: What is the philosophy of a MMM boutique?
MMM: That it represents as best it can the spirit of our work and home. We wish our shops bring an atmosphere of intimacy, calm, encouragement, stimulation and ease. We want that those who visit any of our stores feel as at home there as we do.
Though all spaces inhabited by the Maison share common themes, no two are alike in form, theme or decoration. Great care is taken to respect each building’s unique structure and original use. The atmosphere of each shop, adapted and decorated by Maison Martin Margiela, also draws on the prolific and iconographic use of whites – of furniture, objects, fabrics and textures, old and new – typical of the spirit of the Maison Martin Margiela’s Paris premises, a former school of industrial design. Furniture and architectural elements salvaged from shops and houses across the world are brought to build on the space’s personality.

VISUAL CONTRAST

Visual power - Attract, delight, seduce
Visual communication - Inform, underpin & explain
Visual interest - Revive, refresh, sustain

PHOTOSHOP SESH

Here's my colour chart that includes corresponding colours that are in the two images. In our lecture we learnt about colour behaviours and colour selection. The aim was to understand how colour behaviour plays a key role in many tasks such as: presenting, buying, styling, editing...etc
I chose these two specific images because they had a sporty feel which worked well with my given brand - Ellesse.

OVERSIZED FEELINGS

Button up and get your thermals on. This winter I'm in awe with over sized coats that are taking over streets & shows.
Here are a few styles I adore...

Tomboy: Sporty bombers with muted shades, tough zip fastenings, deep pockets and wide hoods, bring a relaxed streetwise spin to the winter cover-up.
Oversize: Put down those boyfriend jeans and swap them for soft curving shoulders, shapely silhouettes and luxurious cashmere mixes of these cocoon style coats, guaranteed to keep you warm and looking on point this winter.
